Missing Lunch Orders

By Tony

Have you ever went to get a lunch that you ordered, BUT the cafeteria crew told you that they were no longer available? We imagine that every student trusts other students at Columbus to only take the lunch that they ordered. The later lunch students (4th and 5th graders), depend on the other students (K-3rd graders), to take what they ordered. It can be very upsetting to not get a lunch that you ordered.

Every morning, each student at Columbus orders their lunch for the day and they have to remember what they ordered at their lunch time. Also, teachers send their class’s lunch count to the cafeteria crew. When students, teachers and the cafeteria crew do the whole routine correctly…EVERYONE gets what they want for lunch!

More often than not, some kids may have chosen a lunch they did NOT order, because they changed their mind and that one choice can affect many student lunches.  You could have a backup choice, and hey teachers, you tell your kids that you should take what you ordered, so other people don't have to starve for the whole day.  Students need the nutrition for energy for their day. Lunch is a very important part of the day for many people in our building.

Here is an example: Let's say that you are in first grade (they have lunch first), then a 5th grader (who has lunch at the end), orders a mozzarella pizza, then a kindergartner orders PB&J, but then the first grader wants pizza, but he didn't order pizza,  then the first grader takes the pizza that he ordered, and then the 5th grader didn't get HIS pizza! So, that's why you should take what you ordered! Then other people wouldn't starve.  That is why you should take the lunch that you ordered.

Remember to only take what you ordered and don’t change your mind! It really upsets many 4th and 5th graders.
