Be College Ready returns to Columbus
Posted on 09/29/2016

Last year, the McMinnville School District was selected to be one of five pilot districts across the state to launch a new program to help families save for college.  “Be College Ready” is an outreach program designed to prepare for an event that will arrive surprisingly soon:  your child’s life after high school.

“Be College Ready” is part of the Oregon College Savings Plan and the free accounts offer a tax-advantaged way to save.  Funds can be used for universities, colleges, community college and vocational training.

To get families started when their children are young, this year the program is offering a $25 seed deposit to any current kindergarten family who opens an account (or add to an existing one).  For other students, the program offers a sweepstakes to win $529 to open an account or add to an existing one.  Every elementary school in the district will have a winner!
