Artist in Residence: Sonia Allen
Posted on 02/04/2016
Artist Sonia Allen has been in our building teaching colored pencil techniques to our K-5 students.  They have learned how to represent the letters in their names by drawing pictures or objects to shape their letters.  For example an "S" may look like a snake or an "L" may be some pencils stacked in the shape of an "L".  Students used warm colors (red, orange, yellow and browns) for the letters and cool colors (blue, green, purple and violet) for the background colors.  They finally learned how to layer the colors for richer tones.

Thank you Sonia for your hard work and dedication to teaching our students the fine art of coloring with a purpose and of course enjoyment.
Sonia's artwork can be found in Silverton, OR at the Lunaria Gallery.  She is also available for private lessons for adults and children.  Contact her directly at www.soniaallenart.com

Thank you!
